Based on the info he actually didn´t lost.
He fought Weevil(only he is an option since he was the only one with Buggy who became a shichibukai in the timeskip, Law was a fodder) and defeat him, Weevil beg for his life and in a moment when Zephry was careless, he cut his hand,kill his mens and escape.
