It's going to be bad anyway. If he uses awakening, this fight will last for another volume and make Big Mom look weak. If he doesn't, it would mean Luffy is already a top tier and One Piece is going to end too soon and too fast.

And how has this huffing and lamenting slowed down Kaido?? If anything, it felt like Zoro laced his attack with Senzu and fed it to Kaido.
Imagine comparing a Kaido who didn't even bother to use his fs even after finding out Zoro had Oden's sword to current Kaido who acknowledged Luffy has the only notable fighter in the alliance

I honestly don't think he necessarily needs to awaken, if he doesn't that will be better for Zoro hype as well

How i understand this chapter is that kaido is telling luffy that haki is stronger than any devil fruit abilities so it wouldn't make sense for kaido to awake but fight with haki
