Why didn't Denjiro and/or Hiyori kill Orochi from very beginning? What was the point of making Hiyori a whore for 20 years?
What was the point of letting Orochi terrorize Wano for 20 years? If Orochi had died, maybe a more humble Shogun would've taken his place.

Why did Denjiro protect Orochi here?

Just for it to mean nothing:

Because it's honestly embarrassing watching Hiyori fail and face a life or death situation for no reason, when they could've killed him like 20 years ago.

1. Because Orochi is symbolic of the cancer killing Wano. These traditional samurai ideals is what is killing Wano and put them in this issue.

2. Orochi can’t just be killed. His death has to mean something, it has to lead to curing Wano.

Probably because he wants him to die or get defeated in a very specific way, the side effect of that is that Orochi is being dragged on for way too long as a villain and it's very irritating (even if it's by design lmfao).

I think Oda is setting up both Orochi and Kaido to fall at the same time.Oda should have made Orochi into a competent Samurai and ahve him fight Zoro.Oda fucked up big time in Wano.

Nobody gives a damn about him since Kaido betrayed him.
His plot became unnecessary waste of panels

By this point, it really doesn't matter what the point was supposed to be, said point was executed horribly. Orochi is one of the most unengaging, uninteresting, unintimidating, unimpressive, boring antagonists that eats up underserved screen time in an arc that already has two Yonko for antagonists.

Maybe it was to keep someone who's fairly simple and weak in control with Kaido's help. If Orochi died early Kaido would have been the one to choose his successor which may have made it more difficult to organise a rebellion in the future. But yeah he realistically should have been killed as soon as the barrier user was gone.

Kaido needed a bait (Orochi) so that when his daughter Yamato matured, she could rule Wano as a Shogun like Kaido was originally planned. And Kaido also needed Orochi as a business partner for weapons outside of Wano.
