I feel like people who think hancock will win are doing the same thing as the people who thought big mom would win in wano.
I said Oda isn't going to make Kid lose his first major fight in the series, and while Oda horrifically butchered that fight(along with many others in wano), I was ultimately correct in this point. Oda definitely struggles to make pay offs for all the things he has set up, but we can at least expect him to deliver the bare minimum.
Like linlin, hancock is part of the old guard of pirates and their time has come to an end. While Koby might not outright 1v1 hancock and beat her in combat, just as Kid and Law didn't against Linlin, Koby, like kid and law, will get a major victory in this fight. Post wano OP is nearly EoS OP. Given his dream, it makes no sense for Koby not to be a high ranking marine by EoS. Vice admiral at the bare minimum imo. I think beating hancock situationally/with help/via plot would definitely put him in this ballpark, just as 2v1ing big mom pushed Kid and Law nearly into the realm of top tiers.
Just as Kid and Law got awakening to beat big mom, there is a 99.99% chance Koby will have some sort of recently developed power up to help him beat Hancock. Any form of advanced haki would suffice and be entirely plausible as he is trained by garp.
But if you really need more convincing that Koby will win against hancock, ponder this. Why didn't Oda send Koby against the buggy pirates? As you know, Alvida is a member of the buggy pirates. The same Alvida that kidnapped and enslaved Koby. If Koby was really as weak as you think he is, why didn't Oda send him against his arch-nemesis from the east blue? Are we really going to say that Oda sent him to lose against hancock rather than win against Alvida?
Lets not kid ourselves about Koby being Luffy's fanboy, he said in enies lobby that he wanted to capture Luffy and in marineford, Koby resolved to die fighting Luffy. No matter what Hancock's relationship with Luffy is, she is a pirate. She has likely committed murder(as she was going to do in amazon lily before Luffy stopped her). Koby is a marine and fights for justice. He isn't going to let hancock slide just because she loves Luffy, either he wins or loses. And given oda's style of writing, I find it impossible for him to lose when this is the only thing he has done in the past 500 chapters.
If you don't think Koby can beat hancock, fine. Let me tell you a little secret, it doesn't matter. Did it matter when Kid and Law beat Linlin, despite the entire fanbase believing otherwise? Does it matter when Luffy is 1v1ing kaido, despite the entire fanbase saying otherwise? If wano has taught us anything, its that OP is driven by plot first and logic second. Koby wants to become an admiral, so he needs to beat Hancock in some way. Oda will literally pull something out of his ass to justify it if he needs to, just as he did with big mom and kaido.
