In my opinion Current One Piece is exactly same as Old One Piece, nothing changed
But what is making it less enjoyable than it was before is Weekly Reading, Forum Discussions & Debates, Toxic Fandom, Wrong Expectations (Due to Theories & Power Level Debates), Breaks, Tiresome (The Manga is +1000 Chapters after all) & Early OP will always feel Nostalgic ... etc
All of these eventually lead to the Reader getting tired & annoyed till they feel that One Piece isn't good anymore
A lot has changed. Pretimeskip the focus outside of the Marine Ford Saga was the straw hats now it's side characters. Oda will legit sideline main characters like Robin in Dressrosa, Chopper in WCI, Usopp in Wano just to give more screen time to side characters.

On top of that, the humor is gone, One Piece isn't funny anymore

Like it, hate it, or feel some other way... all you really do is balance the scales. For every reader out there who finds it really interesting, there's at least one wg user who complains about the magic being gone. Even if they started reading in 2015 or something lmao

The humor stopped after Thriller Bark, there are still bits here & there but it's never one of main themes anymore.
And One Piece has always sidelined SHs sometimes & focused on Side Characters, actually Post-TS focused on SHs more than Pre-TS

We literally had Four Arcs without entire Crew except Luffy (Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford & Post War Arcs)
When they reached Baratie Arc, Zoro only had his Moment with Mihawk & then Left, Usopp & Nami didn't do anything that Arc, they left too
In Whiskey Peak, Sanji & Usopp were drunk, only Luffy, Zoro & Nami had Focus (Mostly Zoro)
In Little Garden, Sanji was completely absent while Nami & Zoro were stuck & barely did anything
In Drum Island, most SHs barely did anything, it was just Luffy mostly
Jaya only focused on Luffy, Zoro & Nami too & then in Skypiea, Sanji & Usopp literally missed almost entirety of Battle Royale & Final Fight
In Water 7, Sanji was mostly following Robin & didn't have Focus until they got on the Train
And then as i said, Story switched to Luffy only

Only Arcs where all SHs had Focus are Arlong Park, Arabasta, Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark & Sabaody but it was mostly Fights, they were still side-lined outside combat.

I'm not saying Post-TS is not different than Pre-TS, my favorite Arcs are also from Pre-TS, but it's still One Piece, nothing major changed really
SHs side-lined was always there, fake deaths was always there, lot of cliffhangers, sometimes sub-plots are extended which makes the pacing look bad, fight choreography was always never the highlight ... etc

The straw hats were only sidelined for side characters in marine ford saga, even then they all got their own mini arc compared to post time skip where every arc is 70 or more chapters, so the straw hats get sidelined for 5+ years at a time, so far Usopp has been sidelined for 7 years, Robin was sidelined for 10 years until Wano, Brook was sidelined for 5 years and now 3 in Wano

OP is one of the best shonen manga

But that being said, there are major flaws in OP, specifically in the post timeskip. It is very clear that Oda was ill equipped to transition from the mostly adventure based pre-skip to the battle shonen post skip.

Since the timeskip, powerlevels have become far more relevant, and Oda just wasn't equipped to deal with that.

I think its irritating when people pedantically shit on OP, but on the other hand, I think it is far more common for people to ruthlessly defend everything Oda does, even when he's making a major mistake.

It's overrated in some areas as it is underrated in some other areas. In what aspects of it is underrated, I feel Oda's artstyle isn't praised enough and that it should be more regonzied, since he has delivered some of the best panels I've seen in any manga.

But I could agree that it can be overrated in some aspects, like Oda's storytelling or even some of the characters.

agree n don,t forget the "Oiran Walk Hiyori Komurasaki" that great details :steef: maybe only one piece and gintama that ever show about "Oiran walk" in manga ,Kimetsu no yaiba missed such opportunities too bad :josad:

oda always put detailed especially in his world building and culture that his plus but in his storytelling n fight it,s his weakness

In terms of shonen, I'd say his art is on the better side of things

but that's also because a lot of shonen have absolutely atrocious artwork.

At this point, One Piece is average at best. Oda's problem is his writing has weakened. The best you can really say about the recent arcs (WCI and Wano) is they had good ideas but were terribly executed.

Exactly, if they binged Wano Arc for example, they wouldn't have being bothered by non-interesting chapters or some fake cliffhangers, because the answer is literally in the next Page or Scene.

But because of Weekly Read, they will have to wait a whole week, sometimes two & then they find it's a chapter focused on O-Tama or Raizo or some boring sub-plot, so they will get extremely annoyed, add to it the fact that they spent those entire days discussing online & debating, making their expectations high & hoping to win an argument ... etc

Ngl, but my perspective of one piece changed after i re-read it entirely from start to finish & saw how binging an arc is different than weekly read
Copium

One Piece isn't the same as before
Stop trying to fool yourselves

It's subjective
At least i don't read something i don't like as you people do
As soon as all of your and other Zoro fans theories, hope's and wishes fall apart you will end up like these Sanji fan's as well.

I'm a Zoro fan btw and I've been reading one piece since East blue. So I know Oda writing style. Oda is a bigger troll than Kubo (Bleach).

It's only a matter of time you become disappointed with Oda and end up like most of these Sanji fan's. You will soon come to understand Oda writing and intentions.
