The panel show than kid prepared his attack and then he attacked him when Apoo was distracted for luffy and zoro . And the case of zoro he was fighting in the begging against zoro so it's his problem than he was distracted (similar when zoro fighted against killer and the fox)

This is what happens when people get too attached to their headcanons to the point of ignoring the narrative lol. Kaido got furious over Blue Scarf for interfering BECAUSE he finally found someone that could truly go toe to toe with him. Which makes no sense if he was purposely holding back.
