Luffy already had a scar since day 1 getting another one is no difference. Literally no other Shonen protagonist gets maimed or loses an arm or a leg cause it hurts marketing dfkm

It didn't add anything for now, but it put infinite possibilites of G5 infront of us. In what way Oda takes or write G5 in future will elevate 1045 even further or even ruins it (typical Oda). Last but not least, comedy is gold.
