hes also implied multiple times that there is an awakening that humans/base form without fruits that is present and only rodger and maybe roxx really had

Well I think kaido only brought haki tops it all thing up is because luffy was having his way with Gear 5 and was playing around a bit. Kaido just said haki tops every ability out there and damaged luffy with punches and slashes in g5. Means even gear 5 isn't invincible. Kaido said that as reference to logia users relying too much on their fruit rather than haki.

Awakening isn't something you can use all day long. It's sort of final resort attack.
