Everyone claims their targets. We then tally who died and cross reference the results to see who cannot be what.

To be honest if mafia are cops too though I don't know how to catch scum in a lie. The Serial seems even worse. Just tally keeping until Day three I guess

Not entirely true. Player X dies, you assume they're Town, who can be Sane/Insane/Naive/Paranoid. Then do the same assuming they're scum. Do this for each dead player. Then focus on investigations targeting the living.

You're left with two sets of possibilities for each player. It's like SchrΓΆdinger's Mafia, both are possible simultaneously. Then you rule out possibilities each day until you're left with one.

We both claim innocent. That means Player X must be Guilty, or we have an Insane cop. Which means the possibilities for X and I are Sane/Insane/Naive. We also know Y must have been opposite to one of those three.

We do that for every player and we'll figure things out.

The Serial is the problem as they seem to be able to change their investigation type nightly. The only way to catch that would be if someone checks them and receives innocent and someone else checks them later and receives guilty, and both get confirmed sane. Or vice versa for insane.

That of course means the Serial would avoid changing their investigation type, and will probably choose to investigate innocent. That's where we come unstuck, because it means at the end, every person we clear will be town or Serial.

The serial seems really poorly conceived to be honest, I don't know why it needs to exist.
