Having some of the scabbards die could have been a serious consequence. Maybe even reflect on the losses on the side of the alliance in the post-arc (showing graves like the ones Ashura Doji showed to Inu and Kin), there's still time for that but I'm not too confident that with Oda rushing this ending this won't get portrayed as "look how cool the samurai are they were able to defeat the Beast Pirates".
