"It is nonsense. Our goals may not align - but they can overlap, and not taking advantage of said overlap is only going to put your own faction behind. Why do you think an Indie role even exists, if not to swing between factions? I haven't really overleveraged anything, or even leveraged anything - yet. Like I've told you - I've assisted the Town to a degree, about as far as I care to, with the expectation that the Town will assist me in return. If I need to discard that to remove an element that forces me to expend resources combating, then I will do, because it will simply put me back into a position where I cannot rely on the Town going out of their way to assist me - which I don't trust they will anyway. If I'm lynched for covering myself, then the Town have wasted it, because I would only be doing what you could reasonably expect of me. As long as I don't flagrantly go out of my way to side against the Town (like Ekko did last game by joining Mafia directly) then all a lynch on me does is provide a carefree day for Scum."

if you refuse to comply, it’s a minor detour off the beaten path to have you killed. This is the correct way to handle indies, giving you any form of leverage is strategically bad both in the short and long term
