They could absorb the role, and were in a position where they needed a strong role. In context it makes sense given my actions, and my wincon was very town sided anyway.

Here my wincon has a good chance of harming all factions (remember in multiball, you have enemy scum factions to deal with too). You know all this though, if you were a new player it would of course be different. It just so happens in this case, not only was your chosen option suboptimal, it fell apart too.
