Why?? Shanks told him they’d meet after Luffy became a great pirate, he didn’t say “Don’t get a higher bounty than me before then or it won’t be special”

Then why not give Blackbeard a bounty in the 3-4 Billion range if Yonko Bounties are meaningless..
Luffy should look like a runner up not the Pirate king already.. And one could argue that Luffy got extreme luck defeating Kaido..

Because he didn’t defeat a Yonko to become one…he dealt the final blow to a walking corpse, and I believe they even said on panel at some point that his bounty was kept low to keep his profile and exploits similarly hushed up, neither of which is true of Luffy.

Right, so, if we agree that Luffy - a guy who became known around the world as the Fifth Emperor coming into Wano - did something none of the other Yonkos have done by defeating one of their own, as opposed to Shanks who has done virtually nothing that we know of (and wasn’t even one of the four when he met Luffy), what’s the problem with him having the higher number??

That doesn’t answer why Blackbeard’s not in the 3 Billion range..

l can’t pinpoint the reason but Luffy simply getting a higher bounty for defeating Kaido doesn’t sit right with me..
