You put HxH in front of OP. I can't take your opinion seriously.
You can pout and be salty all you want, HxH is miles ahead of OP in terms of writing.

Any halfway objective manga reader will tell you that.

Heck, the 2011 HxH anime even made it into the IMDB top 40 of all series ever made (one of only 3 anime, the others being FMAB and Death Note), bc the source material and anime adaptation were so good.

If you feel offended by that, ok, not my problem. You can gladly continue to post how overrated HxH is, because you're pretty alone there lmao. I mean we even have a HxH vs OP poll here on this OP fanpage and HxH won by a landslide in the category "what is better written".

Even trying to compare OP to works like FMA or HxH is an insult to them, especially when you think about post-skip OP.

Half of HxH is explaination of nen.

Can't deny fact. It's top 3 mainly because pre skip and Oda's work.

No one can achieve this easily. But unfortunately it won't be the GOAT because of post skip.

You'd be hard pressed to find Manga that are better and the list is definitely very short. I feel that anyone who has read Berserk will say Berserk is better - objectively that is a masterpiece.

I would also personally rate Vagabond, Monster, Oyasumi Punpun above One Piece too. I also find Onepunch Man more enjoyable overall although the quality of the story is self-evidently nowhere near what One Piece offers it's readers. I've read over 100 Manga, i've actually lost count, but One Piece is definitely near the top. IMO:
1. Berserk
2. Vagabond
3. Monster

4. Oyasumi Punpun
5. One Piece
6. Great Teacher Onizuka
7. Kingdom
8. Death Note
9. Shingeki no Kyojin
Torn for 10th but either Hunter x Hunter, Jojo's (esp. Part 7 + 8), Gantz, Inuyashiki or Uzumaki

Except this is all subjective - One Piece is definitely up there but honestly it just is not on the same level as Berserk, Vagabond, Monster or Punpun.

Berserk, Vagabond and Monster are good calls, but like I outlined in my other thread:

What does OP offer that any other "generic" shonen (how OP fans call them) like MHA, Naruto etc. doesn't offer?

Only real answer is always "well, its longetivity and Oda's work ethic".

That's about it.

Yes, it has 1053+ chapters, but in terms of actual storywriting it's as generic and basic as it gets.

Each arc has the exact same blueprint and you know exactly how it will end in the grand scheme (I also outlined that blueprint in the other thread). It's just really repetitive and not creative at all in terms of general storywriting.

That's also why I personally would never rank it as high as Death Note, HxH or Jojo.

OP for me falls right into the Naruto, MHA, DBZ bracket in terms of writing.

OP has other strengths, but in terms of storywriting it isn't close to Death Note etc. (and yeah, I won't even start with Berserk etc., that would be ridiculous).

Just like the title says, do you think One Piece is a top 3 manga? Compare it to its contemporaries, predecessors, successors, etc. Shonen/seinen, everything is welcomed.

Here are also some criteria to judge by if you so wish:
-Plot
-Main characters
-Side characters
-Villains
-Character designs
-Power system
-Story arcs
-Incorporation of themes
-Art
-Imagery
-Panelling
-Originality
-Fights
-World building
-Future potential

What do you think are One Piece's good sides and what are its bad sides?

Discuss.

If you mean only in the Shounen genre, it's likely top 5, if not top 3.

If you mean across genres? Top 10 at best.

Yeah it is ai like gitama and lupin the 3rd more but yeah it is my top 3. I i look at it over thespan of 2 decade it's normal that some stuff comes out only now and that we get more character development as the story it's getting to it's climax. There is still a lot to be shown and explain but this is how one pice is and i like it. Also i hope we get more light novels and stuff on other characters that would be nice, if not that is ok also

It's one thing to write and do a chapter every month or year for some people.
It's another thing to give a chapter every weeks for 25 years.

Oda can make one piece also greater if he has more time. That's probably what he needs the most today since he is getting lost.

No wonder Admiral fans have good taste. Monster is undisputed the No.1 and you all gotta read 20th century boys. It's amazing as well.

Why does nobody know about Rainbow nisha rokubou no shinchinin?

Spy x Family over OP is a massive stretch; furthermore JoJo's is definitely not above OP - in terms of quality there's only 1 part of the story (part 7) that is in the same league as the other Shonen you listed

Also, have you given Vagabond and Berserk a try? It's pretty much general consensus from people who have read them that theyre the two greatest Manga of all time

I haven't started Berserk and Vagabond because I am a bit iffy about starting unfinished works that I did not follow from the very beginning.

Why would SxF over OP be a stretch? Also, Jojo's quality is a lot more consistent than OP.

I have read 20th Century Boys and liked it as well, but I try to limit my list to one work per author. This is true both in Manga and Films.

Never heard of the manga you mentioned before. Would you recommend it?
