I couldn't tell properly how his sword looked like in the TCB fan scans, so I extracted the panel from the higher quality official Spanish scans to examine it.
Image resolution is 1438x2100 (highest I could find)

Looking closely at his pants, I can see the sword is inserted from the inside and sticks out from the outside (is that why his pants are ripped?) so its not really attached to the belt like some of us have assumed. Let's look at the sword now:

Without a doubt, there is no scabbard/sheath here... it looks too sharp and edgy for that to be possible. This is a blade, as you can clearly see the hamon (hardened outline) in the middle (yellow).

Here is another black blade (Shusui) for reference and comparison:

Or perhaps we are reading too much into this and he just coated his sword with the usual CoA black hardening...?

Hotei’s blades were sheathed.

Hotei is also not a fucking admiral.
Thanks I know nothing about sword at all, not even tryna be sarcastic I literally have 0 knowledge on them, so thanks for clarification.
Oda made a really big deal out of Fujitora’s observation haki.

I honestly see things going a similar way with Ryokugyu and armament.

I think it is a black blade.
What would kizaru have? Both or coc?

I mean all admirals have haki (maybe COC too but I’m not sure). But outside of Fuji we don’t know any specializations.

I think Kizaru is probably an observation specialist.
I assume Kizaru would specialize in

I think it's clear that he has a black blade. Part of the reason I believe that is because he doesn't have a sheath. Not having that is a clear sign Oda wants us to see the sword blade.

He's not using a sword at the time. It is where somebody would carry a sword when not in use. There's no reason for us to believe he is currently coating his sword with blackened haki since he is not using it.

Idk man, the anti-swordsmen autism has made me a believer that only pure swordsmen can have a black blade, GB is a DF user and he obviously has haki, not very swordsman like. :risitavirus:
