The other 2 are better. I think BotW is better than SS.

But WW is such a great game. Considering how the developers only had 1 - 2 years of development due to a short deadline, WW still came out as one of the greatest Zelda games. By the way, fuck the deadlines! If they had gotten more time for development, we could have explored parts of the sunken Hyrule which would have functioned like a secondary world similar to A Link to the Past. As well as having two more dungeons.

Nevertheless, even with all the cut content, WW still came out great.
WW is definitely the best out of the 4 I've played.
Then I would actually put SS at second because I'm not obese and enjoy the motion controls.

The problem with BOTW is that there's no real equivalent to the dungeons and bosses in the other games. The shrines and divine beasts kind of suck comparatively.

If BOTW 2 has stuff more akin to traditional Zelda dungeons it could be goated.

+ the annoying weapon durability. That's why it felt short compared to WW and TP. If it had traditional dungeons and no annoying weapon durability, game would be goated imo.

Looking at the cut content, they did plan to bring "traditional" dungeons in BotW which were the divine beasts. There were meant to be 10 of them but each one had a different architecture and theme. They were supposed to be "mobile" dungeons!

I've played Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyword Sword, and Breath of the Wild.

Time for a hot take.

The other 3 are better than Breath of the Wild.
All 3 of those other games are extremely fun, unique and iconic.

Loved them all so much dearly. I've not even tried BOTW but I hate it so much. It does some things I really like and admire BUT there are some MASSIVE choices/changes they made which I absolutely loathe and cannot overlook either lol.

I was worried the Zelda games would just become more BOTW-clones which is ironic as people complain about Zelda being too "formulaic" and "needing a breath of fresh air" to change it up but unlike almost all Zelda games before, its getting a direct sequel (There was a few sequels before ofc but VERY few) and not just that, a numbered sequel too? So are we gonna get more frequent Zelda games in the style of BOTW and thus just more of the same?

I'm really on the fence about BOTW, I really do want to try it and get into it but my issues with it are far too massive for me to truly enjoy/appreciate it too I think. Plus I'm awful at games so the much higher difficulty/unforgiving nature of it will hand my ass harder to me than Kaido did to Luffy multiple times.

Even now, I can still fondly remember parts of WW, TP and SS, they all such wonderful vibes, characters, unique gameplay, scenarios, dungeons, worlds and such. I could replay any of them and still be extremely happy and in love with them but each of those games had some really irritating aspects to them too, to be fair lol.

The Spinner alone, Wrecking Ball and Chain, turning into a wolf, the Hidden Village, Temple of Time in Twilight Princess etc alone were so damn cool and great too! The Forest Temple with the literal monkey chain to help you, like Naruto and his clones too LMAO!

Dungeons were a crucial part in the item-progression of the Zelda series which helped and really went along with the whole adventuring.
Sure, you have 120 mini dungeons - as the shrines - in BotW but it's nothing compared to the traditional dungeons. I hope the sequel has traditional dungeons again.
Thats exactly one of my biggest issues with BOTW, I loved exploring the dungeons and discovering the key items in them to help you with them and for later in the game as you mentioned.

Now it feels more like they are imitating the open world trend of Western games, same thing with Elden Ring too. It really lost that handcrafted, personal touch. 120 mini dungeons is pretty lame honestly, I used to think the games didnt have enough dungeons and needed more but not like this and especially this many ofc LMAO!

If they bring back the traditional dungeons for the sequel, I'll very grateful and forgiving towards it for sure. A more traditional Zelda in the BOTW style, with the aesthetics, characters and such would be so damn nice. I don't mind BOTW being an experiment, laying the foundations for that, if thats what it leads to ofc.

I'm remember the dungeon with the Hylia statue in Skyward Sword, with the room tile shifting and that was SO cool and unique! The Temple of Time puzzle to enter it in Twilight Princess, rapidly switching between the past and present in certain areas of Skyward Sword, flooded Faron Woods etc.

We had so much creativity and imagination with the Zelda games and we were really getting spoiled by them. Makes me really appreciate and miss them in hindsight now too.

Another few games I wanna represent/gush about too:

Absolutely freaking goated games, even now to this day, I can still feel the same chills, emotions, awe and such they made me feel decades ago!
