What even was the reason for Jinbei to stay behind??? He could just escape with Luffy. The way the chapter ended was ominous. We didn't know what BM did to Jinbei and the rest, but apparently they were never in trouble, because....Jinbei is a fishman

Um, the reason for him to stay behind was to buy the SH’s time because their ship was incredibly damaged and was moving slow because of it?

Jinbei staying behind and sacrificing himself (together with Germa and the other Sun pirates) in order to let the SHs escape has been a major plot point of WCI.

It's not about the way Oda could justify an escape.

It's that there was such a seemingly convenient way out in the first place, which doesn't fit the "Jinbei sacrifices himself" theme at all.
Here he stands, smiling and in perfect health condition. Appearing out of nowhere in just the right moment.

This massively downgrades the entire ending of WCI by default. It also lowers the stakes - which weren't feeling that high to begin with - even more, since nobody even feels the slightest threat anymore. It has really become a "happy, go lucky" type of adventure, where you just know there will be no consequences for the main characters and their closest friends.

The “Jinbe sacrificing himself” mantra theme cleared up with the last thing that Luffy said to him.

It doesn’t downgrade anything, and it certainly doesn’t clear the tension. We don’t know the specifics of what happened, we don’t know if BM took his life span at any point during that while everyone else got away, we don’t know because we haven’t seen it. It hasn’t become a “happy go lucky” adventure either. In an arc in which the conflict was started by someone getting boiled alive, and in an arc in which someone a few SH’s had befriended got executed in front of them, it’s spectacularly out of place to say its turned into a “happy go lucky” adventure with no consequences.

You didn't understand what i meant. I didn't mean that a tsunami suddenly beats jinbe. Big mom has the ability to highly manipulate vast amount of the ocean with her power.
Jinbe should not have it that easy to escape.

Jinbe would never escape from an Akainu that wants to execute him.

That's if Akainu gets to strike jinbei from behind as he did at MF

But Jinbei is closer in power to Zoro/Sanji than Zoro/Sanji are to Luffy, so it's weird to exclude him from that group. Luffy should just be in his own category altogether, while Jinbei is part of the new monster trio
