World Govt. should try to hide the fact that one of the 20 Kings was assassinated in Mariejoa, since that shows that they are not able to guarantee security even in their own fortress. Let alone outside it.

Hadn't the info spilled out, they would have probably spread the news that Cobra was killed on sea, while returning to Alabasta, or something like that.

This way, instead, makes them lose face in front of the whole world.

Yeah, Sabo is taking the fault of the kill (a Revolutionary) but still makes them look incompetent.
To make a real life example: imagine if the Swiss Guard failed to protect one of the main cardinals during a Conclave, or if the security staff of a NATO meeting failed to protect a country's rapresentative...
