hes specifically shown in marineford to fail at using all 3 kinds of haki. he couldnt. he fails to use armament to hurt kuzan and akainu, and fodder even go "oh my god hes using haki!" and kuzan says "dont be ridiculous" because he doesnt even get hurt. he fails to use observation to predict squard's attack and gets stabbed, then just takes every other hit (and gets hurt by random fodder bullets because he cant use armament haki to guard). he fails to use conquerors haki to stop the execution and has a heart attack before luffy steps up and does it.

Pretty much this. Don't have a problem with Sanji taking an admiral or a fighter comparable to them but not in that same arc as Luffy for example.

Let's say Luffy vs Akainu happens. The story so far has portrayed admirals on the same level. It took Akainu no less than extreme diff to win against Aokiji

Envision Kaido vs King or Queen and put them into perspective. Yeah makes Sanji vs an Admiral even more unlikely in that arc.

Which leaves candidates like Kidd, Law, Sabo, Dragon and such, depending the parties involved to take them on, but Oda has no problem to include multiple parties especially in the final saga.

Kizaru didn't lose. He managed to capture few pirates. Only Supernovas escaped. Besides, Supernova didn't attack Kizaru with some goal or invade mariejois like Luffy and RA invading WCI and Mariejois...Luffy invaded with specific goal and achieved that goal...besides, eventhough he was said winner, it was also said his strength rivals only YC1 level...it was loss of bigmom....same way escaping with Kuma right under the nose of marine force can be counted as a loss of marines...

Losing a fight is a different thing altogether...the discussion is not about strength...the discussion is about competence...
