I cannot believe I need to make this post, but apparently people have no idea how bandages work.

The bandages are there are only to hold the pad in place.
It's either because there is no band-aid or the damage is on the scalp, where band-aid cannot stick because of the hair:

This is what it looks like with a bandage holding the pad:

This is what it would look like if you removed the bandage:

The bandage makes it seem to "slow people" that the injury is much more serious than it actually is.
It's basically just 2 scratches.
