« You are an edgelord go read Berserk » while the more memorable moment of one piece for the majority of the community has no gag in them. Worst the « gag arc » is the least loved.

« One Piece is not about fight go read something else » but also the movie which more revenues is « Stampede ».


Those kind of mental gymnastics must be hard to livra with…

I wonder if at one point some people will realize that Oda killing any semblance of tension in the manga while not delivering on what he build up is a bad thing?

Yeah great Oda wanna stick to his idea but if his idea is bad, is it a good thing to let him make a big mistake ?

If you like someone and see them did something stupid, will you not try to stop them?

Don't worry guys, one day you will truly grow up (not this pretension of adulthood you lie to yourselves with) and you will give zero fucks about the "taste" of the average Joe just like Oda here. Gear Fifth is obviously what he always wanted to do with Luffy, it fits him perfectly; same for this story's goofiness. Anybody with half a brain will notice what are Oda's foundations as an author, and they aren't what many of you seem to be looking for and certainly not what those fans who want seriousness have in mind.

And I personally respect him after this interview more than I did before it.

Against Buggy,
against Kuro with the mast of the ship and getting hypnotized,
Against Krieg acting like a monkey,
Against Arlong putting fake teeth and using momoo,
Against Wapol was a big joke,
Against Crocodile eating crocodile or Filling himself with water,
Against Eneru countless, when he goes boh one example,
Gear third is literally Toon Force,
In Impel down there is plenty of looney stuff with the Newkama.

Only post ts luffy lost a bit of this goofiness, and I am glad that it's back.
Or you guys could just say that prefer post ts One Piece, edgier. But wasn't post ts One Piece absolute shit for most of you guys?

By the way in the interview he also says that he used to be competitive with other battle mangas but now he isnt like that anymore. So now,altough he knows the readers prefers serious fights,he doesnt care anymore and he draws his Looney Tunes/Tom and Jerry fights.

Everyday Luffy isn't as goofy as in Gear Fifth because that's the point of the transformation, but he still is. Denying that this story always had this tone is idiotic, same for thinking that just because Luffy laughs and jumps and toons he will be less serious when required. Gear Fifth only enhances it temporarily because it comes with the whole pack; taking Luffy's playful personality beyond the usual is directly related to increasing his rubber properties.

I've said this before and I'll repeat it: Luffy is a rubber ball bouncing crazily both in powers and personality. Gear Fifth is that same rubber ball bouncing even crazier.

Like I said before you guys have a hard time differentiating between jokes and themes. There was never any Tom and Jerry themes pretime skip. Just because there were jokes doesn't make it have that theme. Vast majority of shounen genere have jokes littered throughout their story. Naruto had jokes, where Naruto farted on Kiba's face, are you going to now say "Naruto was always goofy so now it is okay if heads towards T&J themes". But of course I don't expect fanboys like yall to be more nuance and actually think and use your heads so I will leave at that.
