General & Others New Oda interview: "I want to end OP in 3 years!"

#42
Im late 2019, he said it would take 5 years for Luffy reach laughtale.

It matches with what he said. 3 more years are left until luffy's main journey is over.

Then 2 years for the final war and saga.

So in total, 5 years left.

3 years for the journey to laughtale, 2 for final war and epilogue.

Nothing better, at this rate.

He can make a discussion with toei management.
I'll go with such pace in manga, then you must do well in the filler. Got it?

Then, next movie can be around PK journey, could be a flashback or something with different views than the manga.

After the manga end, they can do a Movie similarly with Last Naruto to test the water (reader) whether they still want one piece theme even after one piece has been ended for a while ago. Like a movie about how the one piece world after SH disbanded/doing something/anything.

One piece super is gonna be the discussion. If we talk about the marketing plan.

but there is still stuff to do after that.
Not according to Oda himself. He has said for the second time now that the story ends after finding the one piece. There is no arc after this. At best it’s falling action

@Rmstorm Nope. There is no war after the one piece is found. The story ends after the one piece… The war is FOR the one piece… Once the strawhats win the war FOR THE ONE PIECE, the story has concluded and will end

Well that ship will take a long time to sink.

You're not making sense, if he truly wants to milk the series for another 10 years he can. One Piece will most likely still be a top 3 selling manga consistently throughout.
I'm not saying that he wants to milk one piece for 10 years, I'm saying that Oda gave up on writing the story the way he did previously and began exploiting the huge wave after Marinenford–which made one piece what it is today. I don't know when exactly Oda plans to finish the story since he's been wrong so many times by his own admission–but also because the shonen jump has a say in it. I don't know the excruciating details of their contract (and that's understandable since it's a corporate secret) but I'm sure that Shonen jump has a say on the issue for sure.

A lot of denial in the thread. I imagine it will be over in three years. If he sticks to the plots the fans have been waiting to read, then it could be high quality chapters that moves things along in a exciting pace with it being a war for One Piece and against the WG.

Nope. He says the story ends when the One piece is found. There is no war AFTER the the one piece is found

@RedDrifter One piece has been plain shit for years now
Pretty sure it was more along the lines of the "Adventure" ends when the One Piece is found. Which would be true. After that we get the war that engulfs the World in flames.

Let me just say that I don't believe One Piece will end within the next three years. I'd argue it is more likely to end on the 30th anniversary in five years. However, didn't Oda also say that he has the entire ending figured out already? If so, shouldn't this be considered a good thing, as he can adjust his pacing toward it? It makes sense that we are now in the endgame after Wano - two emperors have been defeated and the whole world is in uproar due to what happened at the Reverie. Everything Oda had planned throughout the story will be revealed in this final saga, all he needs to do is to take us there.

If he finishes it in 100 chapters or less (aka 3 years) it will be bullshit by default.

Oda himself brought that upon him by spending countless chapters on completely redundant stuff.

People would rightfully be pissed that he dragged out way less important setup arcs seemingly for ages and then squeezes the actually important stuff of the series (well, ALL the important stuff and mysteries to be exact) into a speedrun session that is shorter than Dressrosa or the raid on Onigashima - a mere act of the Wano arc.

What kind of good story has 90%+ buildup and less than 10% actually important reveals/resolution etc.?

Sadly, people will still appreciate and defend it citing Oda's bad health or some other BS.

One Piece has been garbage since time skip.

The problem is, we know Oda can write, draw and deliver, but he dont. He chose an easy way out, he didnt even try to keep his promises and kept on adding layers without unfolding any special mystery.
Have you read about his recent interview with Detective Conan's mangaka? He said he wants to bring back Tom and Jerry type stuff to manga because that type of art is going extinct.
Do we need to remind him that Tom and Jerry movies are still being released?
I have just one word for this man; Shameless.

Nope. Both times Oda has talked about this, he simply says “the story ends”

This entire idea of a “war after the one piece is found” is based on a misreading and headcanon of that Whitebeard panel.

In 2019 when Oda simply said the story ends, that’s when people started saying this “adventure” stuff just for the sake of matching their headcanon of the Whitebeard panel

There is no misreading.... Whitebeards words are cut and dry, and zero room for misinterpretation.

"Sengoku, you and the World Government fear THE GREAT WAR THAT WILL COME TO THIS WORLD ONE DAY. I'm not interested in the treasure BUT WHEN IT IS FOUND the WHOLE WORLD WILL BE TURNED UPSIDE DOWN."

Oda even confirms this war himself, in SBS Volume 97.

O: Yes it is. Rather than finishing the whole series, the story about to end is the most interesting part of Luffy's adventure, "What is One Piece?", thus concluding the story. Although the Wano Arc is intensive now, once Luffy can set sail safely, I am going to draw an extended world, exciting stories that no one has ever read, and "The Greatest War" in One Piece history. It is going to be very interesting! Therefore, the announcement is to make readers prepare themself mentally that the long story is on the road to the finish. However, you can enjoy the Wano Arc in hot now. I will do my best to draw it!!

So I am not really sure where you get the impression that this won't happen.
