Powerscalling is one of the key component of a story which resolves all of his conflicts with fights. Without powerscalling there is no suspens and no tension. Destroying in a story where every conflict is resolve by a fight is destroying the tension of story.

It baffling me that people cannot understand that.

That's powerscaling done by the author internally. I mean powerscaling to the point where you argue "Is character X stronger than character Y", and that most often turns into schizo screeching at each other about which character is stronger, only for the author to resolve their fight some other way.
