Where's the proof that Kaido "ran away" for all we know they could have just talked.

Because thats what this is, this is what Shanks fans use as a last resort when they cannot refute proper arguments. A no context interraction between the two “headcanoned” into Kaido running away.

The evidence is piling up that Shanks probably flexed his COC on Kaido and he retreated.

Kaido wouldn’t have Shanks in his top 5 if there was no exchange, and looking at what Shanks is doing here it’s not hard to piece together what probably happened.

Kaido's top 5 was people who could fight on par with him. Maybe they both realised that fighting it out wouldn't do either of them any good.

Kaido has him as people who can fight him, not beat him. Kaido also thought no one could bring him down the Shanks alive. Kaido was called strongest pirate by Kidd and Killer after they tangoed with the RHP. Kaidos mere presence kept enemies away from Wano. Kaido gone and suddenly Shanks/GB are here.
That is actual evidence, not your wishful thinking.

So much so that Luffy, who just beat KAIDO, wonders "what was that?"

I don’t think you know what Trauma means mate. This is an old overused meme. Kaido mentioned Oden whenever thinggs in relation to Oden reminded him of him, that is not trauma fam, its called normal behavior. Trauma would be if he started seeinng Oden everywhere, if he was waking up in cold sweat screaming his name. None of that happened.
