The strongest swordsman tittle is worthless it seem. WB and Roger had supreme grade swords and had fighting styles that are more based on the sword than some swordsman that we saw and they aren't considered swordsman or even had the tittle.
Like Mihawk wanted to test his strength against WB to see if he could get close to him and still was considered the strongest swordsman at the time. It don't make sense.

shanks is a swordsman because he's called mihawk's rival and the swordsman mihawk want another to surpass.

He exists to be Zoro’s last fight and that’s it

The only way Oda could spice things up is by making him actual opposition (a real threat) but that’s almost impossible now that the Warlord system is gone

He will either do nothing then fight Zoro and lose or do nothing then fight Shiryu and lose

Shanks fans are praying he doesn’t meet the same fate
