Except we the 90's always claim we are the best generation, and over any generation
Probably because 90s kids grew up in the sweet spot around when the internet became popular. All the cool stuff gets immortalized and spread more easily on the internet, but there wasn't the crazyn influencer era yet. So not every little part of people's lives gets broadcasted online. Meaning all thet stupid shit doesn't get exposed. Only the best parts were made popular so it creates the illusion that things were better. Basically older generations didn't get enough exposure and the youngere generations show every facet of their lives including the dumb shit.

While watching this episode @EmperorKinyagi i was thinking about what you said, with Luffy being a Gary Stue.

I've always had this weird feeling about Luffy, with the way he always got things his way and shit. Especially in fights.

But something clicked for me while thinking about this and watching this episode.

No, Luffy isn't a Gary Stue at all.

A Gary Stue / Mary Sue is someone who is good at everything, without almost no effort or training.

Think about Rey in Star Wars, the best at fighting, using the force, engineering, piloting and all that shit without training.

But Luffy is actually the opposite, Luffy is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE at everything. And Oda reminds us of that every time, think about it.

We've seen Luffy fail or want to have the skills all the other Straw Hats have.

We've seen Luffy with a sword in Wano, not knowning wtf to do with it. That's Zoro's world.

We've seen Luffy eat wrong mushrooms in Amazon Lily, not knowing what good food is. That's Sanji's world.

We've seen Luffy end up inside a barrel because of a whirlpool, because he doesn't know shit about navigation. That's Nami's world.

We've seen Luffy not able to draw his flag or aim a canon. That's Usopp's world.

and so on... you could do this with all Straw Hats.

Luffy SUCKS at everything, that's why he is so GOOD at fighting and making friends.

If you get other people that are really powerful in this world, like Shanks, Blackbeard, Kaido, i can tell you already they are more capable than Luffy in a lot of things.

But Luffy is the best when it comes to fighting and making friends / inspiring people.

We only feel like Luffy is a Gary Stue, because fighting feels like the main skill in a battle shounen, so we don't give the same respect to other skills.

If this was a cooking manga, Sanji would be a Gary Stue.

If this was a swimming manga, Jinbei would be a Gary Stue.

If this was a musical manga, Brook would be a Gary Stue.

But One Piece is different from other stories like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Bleach.

Those other stories basically only value character's abilities or strategies in battle. While One Piece values other types of skills, and make "weak" people like Usopp and Nami reach the end of the world.

The truth is that every single person in the crew are geniuses, they are reaching the top of their fields or have already reached.

And Luffy's field here is being a fighter and a leader.

You're lost and have no idea what you're talking about.

Here's some resources.

The fact that he was born with COC on it's own is enough to establish Luffy as a Gary Stue, forgetting literally everything else like his god fruit or his lineage.
Kinyagi, my friend, let me get this straight:

- You don't like Film RED based on what you've seen

- You don't like how the Anime does things

- You don't like Luffy

- You don't like Wano and especially the last few chapters

bro, what are you doing here?

I'm not dropping a series I've spent almost a decade following because of a bad arc and a shitty movie.

And I've never liked anime.

"If you don't guzzle cum and constantly orgasm over the media you consume why are you watching it?"

There's no way you're 26. 16 maybe.
