I'm kinda glad it looks like I was right all along in some way:
Yeah, there was definetely something odd with the notion of "I want to take a ride, want to be free". Oda definetely was cooking something. No mugiwara asked to join and all that.
BUT I started doubting that of course because it was obvious that the build up was TOO FUCKIN MUCH. I mean. At some point it looked like Oda or some editor checked online forums to look for anti-Yamato reasons and trying to pourposefully destroy those in the upcoming chapters:
- "Yamato won't join because she knows too much". Oda: "Oops, looks like someone tore the pages"
- "Yamato has to protect Wano". "Oda: look! Momonosuke says otherwise".
It was too convenient and souspicious so it seemed clear she'd join.
Again, I'm happy I was right all along. Her journey was aiming to "finding her true desire rather than joining". BUT Oda crossed some BIG line with her. We should've had more hints that she really intended to stay among with the "i'm joining" stuff.
