Most strawhats have been pretty secondary in wano, they were not really involved in the main plot of the samurai's revenge story or the new generation overtaking the old other than being there to fight. Sanji and especially Zoro have had more screentime and focus than the other but even they weren't all that central to the overall Wano plot, Sanji's subplot didn't tie into the main one and was more of a thing on the side and it's hard to say what Oda even wanted to do with Zoro as he started plenty with him but never followed through.
The rest of the strawhats had, at best, their one chapter long fight against some tobiroppo or were just... there.
The best balance was obviously when they were only 7 strawhats, but I'm still hopeful Oda will tone down the amount of side characters next arc and give the sh some decent focus.
Tama was emotional anchor of wano. She bonded most with Luffy and Nami.
It's seems pretty clear what Oda care more about. If you ask here people aren't gonna consider Tama important despite her being the main focus.
It begins with Luffy learning Tama doesn't have enough food and ends with Luffy declaring he wants world where his Nakama can eat as much they want. It begins with Luffy creating strong bond with Tama and ends with Tama crying while holding Nami after Luffy defeated Kaido.
These scene will be consider less important by some people but these are the most important elements of one piece. Oda cares more about these scene , then random fight scene , we all know who gonna win already.
Oda did a whole interview where he talked about his love for Nami yesterday. Outside Boob Scenes he always give her the scenes he as a writer cares about the most
All I’m saying is people need to be ready for what’s coming. If they think the parallels with Skypeia end this arc…
Luffy and Nami verse’d a fake god above the rest of the sky then… what about at Marejois

What’s the connection between Sanji and BB then? I’m genuinely curious. I don’t see one at all.

The thing I disagree a little is that Wano has a few "starting points". All in PH.
There's Momo/Luffy bonding, the alliance with Law and....Sanji/Kinemon. Sanji was there to be one of the triggers for this massive 10 year saga.
He chose to help Kinemon and even said he would take responsibility for any problem it would cause when the others were against it.
He got not just "1 arc". Sanji was the one to stand on top of the Sunny and tell Luffy "captain, give me permission to counter attack Big Mom's ship". That's the first actual direct attack on a Yonko crew the SH's made in the New World.
Sanji has more weight in Wano than people realize.
Not only that, but his "arc" didn't end in WCI. It continued in Wano.
I know people like to pull the "og trio" card, but this series is over 20 years old. Things change. It's completely possible that Oda's been giving Sanji way more importance than he might have originally intended when he started OP.
It doesn't mean that "nami is replaced", but there's absolutely no denying that Sanji has played a more significant role than Nami ever since Punk Hazard. And I'm not talking merely "powerscaling wise".
Nami's most significant moment in Wano was the "luffy is gonna become PK". Which is a moment almost everyone in the crew already had.
You mentioned before when she "confronted" Kaido about Luffy being dead, and, while I agree, we had a very similar situation when Luffy lost for the first time and Sanji and Zoro were like "Fuck you!" to Kaido, while everyone was crying or starting to get desperate. Remember when he tells Chopper "don't lose hope now. how many miracles have we witnessed?".
These 2 are GREAT moments for Nami, but they don't set her apart from other SH's, IMO.
Let's not forget that there's another sad backstory kid in Wano, O-Toko. And she had moments with Robin, Zoro and Sanji.
The "Yasuie execution", sanji and zoro jumping in to protect O-Toko, etc.
There's a lot of emotional weight distributed around the characters in Wano. I don't believe Nami's got any special "placement" for them.
I just hope that we get to see more of her talents beside "being a mom". Her "navigation + helmsman" combo with Jinbo could lead to great stuff. Oda should definitely invest more on that.

And about this part....yes...luffy's dream is about ending world hunger.
Guess which character has MASSIVE ties to the themes of "hunger" and "feeding people", whose dream is a magical sea full of "ingredients".
Again. People really underestimate Sanji's role.
Both "finding the all blue" and "finding the one piece" were things that people ridiculed these characters for. It gives a really unique bond for Luffy and Sanji. Also helps that, during the Baratie, the rest of the crew left mid arc and was just these two interacting with each other.
I'm telling you. 20+ years is a LOT of time and ideas definitely can change. It's not unfeasible for Oda to have skyrocketed Sanji's role in the grand scheme of things. Sanji's now got a major connection to one of the most anticipated characters in the story (Vegapunk).
Year of Sanji is never over.
On a website that is full of stupid fucking threads, this might be the dumbest. Nami has been named by Oda as one of the three most important characters in the series, has the second most screen time in the entire series, and is integral to getting Luffy to Raftel. Sanji doesn't approach her.
I hate to say this, Sanji is way more relevant than Nami now. Hell...Oda is turning Nami into Sanji's bitch to get that point across. I hate Sanji for it.
Sanji and Nami are only good character of this manga. Most of other character only have cool scene so they their fan can get something.
Oda don't invest anything in their characters. Oh he look badass , must be great character.
This is a bad take. Subjectively and objectively there are many good characters in One Piece. Law is a very good character and reminds me of pre-TS serious Luffy. Luffy was my most favorite shonen MC till he turned into Jesus. Blackbeard is without a doubt a well-written character thus far (still hate him). Kuzan, Issho, Doflamingo are excellently written. Among good guys, Kyros, Noland, Whitebeard (till Oden thing) are good.
And if you meant to take a swipe at Zoro fans, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Zoro. Not every character needs to be deep and emotional, simple characters are also good. Most people IRL aren’t carrying a lot of emotional baggages, they are simple people, but they help when it is needed.
Let me guess, a LuNa fan, right? I have nothing against anything you said and I use to support LuNa too.
But I am just not seeing Nami play the same role she played in Alabasta, Skypeia or Water 7 anymore. In those, she acted as an important player. Now, she is a cheerleader.

When you admit to never reading One Piece without actually saying it verbatim.
You're aware that if you type this, other people can see it?
Imagine suggesting that Nami, the only person that can get Luffy to the end and who, alongside. Luffy and Zoro has driven podt timeskip like the rest of the story, is simply a cheerleader.
Phew, and here I was thinking that Robin was the only person that has been suggested to be able to read thr Poneglyphs, while Nami hasn't been portrayed as exceedingly exceptional and the only person that can get Luffy to Raftel.

My god the things I'm reading in this thread are mind boggling, I don't know if it's even worth addressing any of this dribble since Doggo is doing a great job at it already. This is the same author who was surprised at how important Law turned out to be from his initial concept, so much more important in fact, one could easily place him above most the straw hats in relevancy. But Sanji somehow climbing up the metaphorical ladder of importance to reach Nami or god forbid surpass her is somehow impossible because of a misconstrued author statement from the stone ages.
1.) You're full of shit, somebody posted the quote in this thread
2.) Being strong is not being Nami
3.) Oda literally drew the three of them together in honor of Chapter 1000 in a special cover.

I am aware. Not sure, you are though. She can have all the paper importance you want, but she is not getting anything on panel and that's what matters the most. She used to have strong on-panel presence pre-TS. She doesn’t anymore.
Whatever Oda said 15 years ago or whatever her supposed role is, its not gonna matter if it doesn’t appear in the manga.

Tama is way more important character than toko. Tama affected Luffy more than any other character in wano.
I simply don't agree that Luffy main dream is ending world hunger that's more about Tama.
Sanji is just a inferior version of Luffy same as Usopp is inferior version of Zoro. That's why there are similarity.
Nami confronting Kaido was important as it was just Nami and no else. As both Zoro and Sanji trust were shown through muscle , Nami was shown through emotion. One was control trust and other one was foolish trust.
What many people seems to not get that I don't want to imply Nami is way more relevant than Zoro and Sanji. Unless someone call her less relevant than Zoro and Sanji , that's where the problem is. Then I have to simply consider Zoro and Sanji as glorified side characters.
Nami simply play different role than Zoro and Sanji. Oda wants to divide the role of deuteragonist between East blue 4 + Nami is main heroine. Nami should be judge in a different way.
