You got it backwards,its you that needs the prayer not the other way around.Praying is a way to communicate with the divine.Neuroscience proves praying(any kind) activates areas in the brain that are also activated when talking with an old friend.

Hey, I would like to mention one reason this is mistaken, we see some souls are in Heaven before the day of judgement, in the book of Revelation,
Revelation 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

And Jesus says He gives us rest
Matthew 11:28-29
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I think there are also more ways to rest than sleeping, especially if you are with God in Heaven and you have a new immortal angel-like shining body,
1 Corinthians 15:53-55
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Matthew 22:30
“For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”
Mark 12:25
“For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.”

It never said those souls are in heaven. It only stated the souls which are bodies are under the altar. It seems as though you think we have souls inside of us. Well the world fed us that information, not GOD.
Genesis 2: 7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Our body is the soul, therefore no man is going to heaven. The rest Jesus will give you is in the scriptures and when you keep the commandments you will have peace until he comes.

Great scriptures man, those are some of my favorites. Those new bodies will be wonderful indeed. We will get those bodies at the last trump, that's why Jesus said I will raise you up at the last day.
John 6:

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Now pay attention to what I have bolded. Heaven is coming to us we don't go to it which is the point I am making in the thread. We get our new bodies and we go into GOD's kingdom which will be on this Earth. That's why when we say the our Father prayer we say "Thy Kingdom Come".
If we go to heaven then that scripture should have said I saw the saints ascended up into heaven to new Jerusalem but it never said that. We gotta believe what we read not what pastors say out their mouths.
John 6:
