I like his battle style, how he interacts with Itachi, and most of all I didn’t expect him to have such an interesting backstory and motive, great ending too, as Guy would say, I have mad respect for Kisame

Katakuri is a major Luffy enemy: he's going to have his moment in the future.

Look at how long Crocodile was inactive in the story, and where Croc is now. Same with Lucci. The big enemies that beat up Luffy physically always come back to do important stuff later (can't wait for Enel's return, too).
