We all know the entirety of Wano was about to be mid diffed.

He may have anticipated that BB will come and take the DF of Kaido, BM, or even Luffy.
That's why he went to Gorosei to talk about certain pirate.
Hopefully we will get an explanation for this.

So a admiral wouldn't die. Shanks didn't need to save the sh's as they weren't in real danger. Idk why you ignore luffy Zoro Sanji and jinbe all saw him and weren't worried about green bull in the slightest. Just because shanks interfered doesn't mean anything as shanks doesn't know what condition the alliance were in. For all shanks knows they were all on their death beds after the fight when a admiral tries to attack them.
