Every time someone describes Doffy's design as edgy I realize how different the standards are here than other manga
In Naruto or Bleach it would be considered a gag character design, but in One Piece it's more edgy than at least 80% of the characters
That said, I don't think Oda will go for a funny design for Imu.

I think Imu won't be edgy, but more graceful and elegant (e.g. Mihawk).
Let's consider what we know about them.
They are the monarch that reigns above the entire world and seem to be treated as some sort of deity by the Gorosei.
They wear a crown and long robes/dresses.
They also play with butterflies in the flower garden, so I'm expecting grace, elegance and a refined demeanour.
(Again, Mihawk is a good pointer to how Oda implements that.)
