Aye definitely! Odas trolling is also bringing out the worst of us too, all the letdowns, baits, and such. Its causing permanent damage to the series and upsetting the community massively including me too ofc.
There are definitely a variety of good and bad apples so to speak, thats also what makes places like here better argumentatively and more interesting definitely, more unique. Its definitely far from boring and to some degree predictable here lol.
Yeah, when Oda really wants to, much like the authors of Ranma or Gintama for example, they really do the heartfelt, serious, emotional moments. Sengoku Basara too. Thats what I love about anime and Japanese authors, they do such wonderful, character driven stories when they want to but also some Western authors and series do as well ofc! I can name a few at least Western series that do such an amazing job as well! I'm not sure where I was going with this to be fair LMAO!
But yeah that WCI moment was fantastic. Very mature, emotional, unapologetic and heartfelt. Magnificent writing honestly. I deadass cried during that arc because of that. Even rewatching that scene lately too. The anime made it even better by having Sanji shown with the corpses of Baratie chefs around him momentarily after lightning struck, as he sat crying in the rain after giving Luffy the Bento or something? Their corpses replaced the fallen chess soldiers and such briefly.
Yeah he refused all food and said outright he will never eat anything else unless Sanji comes back, he only wants to eat Sanjis food and will let himself starve to death otherwise. He let himself in a similar way get starved to complete exhaustion like Big Mom was later, but his case was deliberate and almost got himself killed by the Enraged Army especially. You can't ever buy that kind of loyalty. Blood brothers to the end. Ride (sail) or die.
