I personally believe that Meme sucked Kaido's soul since Meme's plot in Wano was about Meme having some secret plot against Kaido, she kind of hinted to Perospero that she has hidden motives plus the betrayal plot with Meme that never paid off. So, I think Meme was always planning to wait and see Kaido dying or at least weakened, we even had a moment in Wano where Meme said "what, Kaido died" and being excited about it imho. So, I assume she was and most likely did suck Kaido's soul and became stronger and by doing so she finished off Kaido/killed. That allows Oda to up the DANGER factor with Meme since Meme is a complete joke and nobody takes her seriously, especially after Luffy became an Emperor. So by doing so Oda will make Meme stronger, since Meme will gain Kaido's strength/will/haki by sucking his soul, and it would allow Oda to change Meme's personality a bit.
