Thats exactly it, Rebecca 2.0. I really wanted Bonney to be like Big Mom as in confirmed related to her or trying to be like her purposely, maybe idolising her and seeing her as a sort of hero somehow, in terms of ideals, self survival and success, or something idk. Bonney being a mother would have added a lot to this potentially too.
Yeah, there's still potential for this, that panel of child Bonney with Kuma was very nice but I'm so sick of Oda regurgiating this same storyline and expecting us to just lap it up like before. The Kyros part of Rebeccas storyline was fantastic imo, I wanted to like Rebecca but she got on my nerves somewhat like Shirahoshi and Momo but I understand why they are like that too, especially on a personal level too.
Oda is coming off as a one trick pony more and more and his insisitence on reusing the same formula for his arcs really doesn't help either.
