Midd obviously has portrayal but his feats are pretty lame for the most part, with his fruit even in the awakened form being complete garbo, he is a potential ACoC user but even then it’s hard to see him on Law/ Zoro level.
Is it because Kidd is a lame character who is constantly enforced as a fraud rival yet at the same time Oda refuses to make him likable in any sort of way?

The only reason kid is downplayed is because he’s unpopular. Because Oda couldn’t spend 5 minutes developing him as a character.

Before Wano if he was a more agreeable character I would think he would be weaker, just as Law (Law was beaten by Doffy while Luffy wiped the floor with Doffy). Kidd being more arrogant could have still been some sort of minor real rival for Luffy (the real one is BB of course). Yet Wano make him too a cheerleader and perfectly on par with Law.

Oh he is very likable and quite a badass too.
Unfortunately his abilities are quite lame.

Someone said he can't back up how he behaves with his strength. I think this makes him even more badass, having such will power.

If, by any chance, he should ever learn about haki and its advantages, he would be quite decent character.

Kid and killer are a great team btw.
