Difference is Lucci's awakened hybrid also looks different than his regular hybrid. Teeth, skinnier, covered in furr, similar to Yamato. Same as Luffy turning additionappy white, because he's a human type zoan.

His regular hybrid is more similar to Kaido's hybrid.

Just an FYI, but Luffy technically hasn't truly used AdCoC yet. Just seems like basic haki with awakening. This is a cool fight, but hopefully it's not a curbstomp next chapter.

What I'm really curious about is the Akainu page and if it explains Kizaru's motivations a bit.
