I know he liked star wars. But the way I see it, the his worldbuilding is very different from what that movies have done. Not shitting on star wars, it's just different.
Just because Berserk doesn't do worldbuilding like ASOIAF or One Piece it doesn't mean it's unimpressive. The world feels alive and things happen outside of the main characters. There's not one specific way to write worldbuilding, but I do think Miura did a great job with it.

Dude, Miura in that thread literally said he uses Disney productions as a guide to his worldbuilding. And I’ll find it in a bit but I believe there’s also literally a quote where he attributes direct inspiration to Revenge of the Sith specifically.
Like Berserk is great (I literally OWN the entire manga), but that doesn’t mean it does EVERY aspect of story telling well since it pretty blatantly does not. This is a weird trap that I see people fall into.
And frankly, I actually disagree with the thread I shared, I just wanted to show you the quote from Miura, I think there’s good worldbuilding and bad worldbuilding, “soft worldbuilding” just seems like cope.

Vegapunk's desire theory so far only explains why the devil fruits have very specific and weird powers, but hasn't actually explained where devil fruits come from or how they appear in the world, who is granting these desires?

People are acting as if, if someone wishes for a power, the fruit just materializes in front of them out of thin air which isn't at all what has been said so far.

One Piece's worldbuilding is amazing. ANd anyone saying otherwise is either ignorant about storytelling or coming from bad faith.
I'm serious guys, keep trashing One Piece's narrative qualities and I'm going full Nakama thread on you all on each one of you threads!
You might know what I can do when I support the narrative potentiality of one character but you don't know what I'm capable of when I start dissecting an entire story. It's another level.
And if you don't know, ask the guys in the current Nakama thread.
So to listen to actual GOOD narrative analysts, stop the BS and read One Piece, you don't necessarily need a novel to get good quality content.
