Questions & Mysteries How do you hate Luffy and still read one piece?

I am still interested in the world of One piece and enough of the strawhats, plus One piece has been with me since my childhood so its not something one can abandon easily (although I did drop it for a while during Wano...)

Luffy is defiantly downgrading the manga for me
I’m not here to discuss right or wrong
He’s not my type of MC and there are other elements which I dislike generally. I liked him when I was a teen but he was never in my top 10 or something like that.

I’m still reading OP because
1. there are still other characters I’m interested in
2. and I’m watching/reading OP since 2003/04
I can’t drop it so easily

but it dropped in my eyes so hard and I don’t have the same enjoyment

so did they start hating luffy recently? because I genuinely can not find any difference between current luffy and pre timeskip luffy.

Notice a trend with the people who hate his character
it grew in coincidence with the amount of attention given to his character in contrast to their favorites

I never liked Luffy or cared for him since chapter 1 I just want see what others characters it had and proof they some I was interested in and I like one piece ever since you don't have to praise the main character if that the case you should praise every character oda like to keep around

''Hate'' is too strong of a word to feel towards a cartoon character.
''Dislike'' is a better word imo.
In my case I used to appreciate the character but now it's more like ''indifference''.
To answer the topic though, after 20 years I'm too invested in the story and really want to know the end; I used to recommend it to others but now I strongly advise people not to watch or read it, it's not worth it.

Same. I'm indifferent toward Luffy too, for me it's because Oda spelled it out that fate and destiny is a big part of him. This thing can be a small thing or a big thing depending on our life outlook.

Funny thing is that the amount of attention Luffy got never increased from preskip; all the other fan favorite simply saw a drop in panel time in favor of a ton of minor characters with subplots beyond their pay grade. Luffy keeping his status made him stand out more.
