Current king of Manga series + giant ad campaign + released at the end of the story's biggest arc ever + really good animation + hugely popular and talented Japanese Idol + Shanks = lots of money.
A lot of One Piece movies feel like the regular series, but with way worse storytelling, character and worldbuilding, and higher production values. Film Red actually provides something you can't get in the regular anime, a dance concert, for better or worse (except for the Onigashima party scene, I guess, which was AWESOME. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM).
