Plot wise speaking they should be dead.
I don't want them to be dead but if they are alive. Even though beaten character but even the current strongest would be extreme diff them.
And if they are live , they will be headache for both the sides in final war. They are gonna attack anyone they see as a threat and No way either on marine side or Luffy side have enough man power to take Down both of them off panel. They strength is top tier no doubt and oda somehow had to decrease number of top tiers.
Currently there's just mihawk/shanks and Akainu.

Short and sweet kind of anime, 13 minute episodes that have about 10 minutes of animation if you take out the OP and ED.
