Oda wouldn't have sent Coby after Hancock if Coby wasn't going to defeat her(even if he only defeats her in a tag team).

he could have easily sent Coby to take on Buggy instead. If he chose to do that he could have had Coby fight and capture Alvida. But he didn't.

There is no reason to, after 300 chapters in the new world, bring coby into the story just to have him fodderized.
