I feel Oda murdered most of the SHs pre TS at least too. The way Kuma suddenly took them all out like that was completely horrifying and unexpected too and in a way, felt like Odas attempt at a near death type disaster without killing them off.
That arc turned OP into a true horror/disaster movie so to speak, before we knew Kuma was saving them too ofc.
I'll probably get flak for this but I felt the SHs were like imposters post TS, not the originals. They just seemed so flanderised/exaggerated/OTT/parodies of themselves etc. How ironic that same arc had imposter SHs show up seeking to profit off their glory too.
The fake SHs despite their summoners have led to some of the funniest memes and one of the funniest spinoff chapters of One Piece ever! (One Piece Party, chapter 3 i think, whichever is the Enies Lobby one lmao.)
I could easily mega rant on the brutal bastardised writing of Choppers character alone. Oda even unashamedly admitted recently that he made him into a mascot/walking plushie!
Oda saved Robin at Onigashima somewhat after nearly 2 decades of no major fights and just being a background character since post TS.
Brook was wonderful at WCI but a lot of cockteasing on major backstory stuff snd world building/lore connections with him then too, that went nowhere, especially knowing of Germa too.
Hes not even had a major doll fight yet! Best he got was Zeo at FMI!
Amande would have been perfect for him or at least Tamago or a team up with someone vs Smoothie too.
Pre TS Usopp was one of the most compelling, grounded, realistic, humanised (literally), tragic, nuanced, controversial, tormented, badass, heroic etc characters!
Now look at him...
It's fucking disgusting what Oda has done post TS. Never mind he accidentally tricked Toko into believing he could resurrect her recently murdered father with his "magical, miracle toad oil" too!
I was reminded recently of how Nami faked stabbing Usopp and stabbed herself to save him at Arlong Park. I forgot about that and I really made her respect and admire her even more now! No wonder they're such close friends too!
To to something like that for someone else is extremely brave, noble, selfless, heroic etc!
Wh1ps post to me recently really made ne understand the story and character arcs of the M3 at Wano a lot better, some of it reinforcing what I knew or suspected too but I'm furious on how the weaker SHs are being handled at least.
I fear Oda will fuck up Elbaf for Usopp like he did for Zoro at Wano.
