Depends where you want to live. The south is generally seen as a bad place to live, but, there's plenty of cheap, safe areas to live down there.
The US's best and worst aspect is that there's so much variety. There are so many people living in these cities, that, the odds of you walking by a nutcase on any given day are very high.
The best places to live in the US are smaller/mid sized towns where people actually know each other, and aren't shoulder checking each other out of the way to get down the street.
Crazy ass cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City really warp people's idea of how much violence occurs here. The driving is also a concern, though, Americans have no idea how to teach kids how to drive on a mass level.
There's plenty of safe, nice places to live in the US, but, I'll be honest, I wouldn't move here. The country overall is getting worse and worse, the leadership is awful. Like, IDK what the government is like where you are, but the US is pretty much ruled by rich war criminals and sex criminals, who are just as scummy as people like Putin. It's been hard to have hope in the country for the last few years. If you know how to work hard and smart, you can find success here, though.
Do you know anyone in the US you could live near?
