Yes, this is worse than Sanji and Nami, because even though Sanji sexually assaulted Nami, Oda still write Nami as dumb enough not to really care.

Zoro and Hiyori is worse than even this because Oda couldn’t muster the strength to give either character an opinion on the other. Zoro has no opinions on Hiyori, he doesn’t think she’s hot, or interesting, or charming or smart, or anything. Hiyori has none on Zoro. It’s like they are only vaguely romantically paired because Oda is a puppet master than forced them to share a bed that one time because he’s the god of the universe and they are his playthings

And also I think, Oda is afraid that readers will focus more on that or find that more interesting than G5 Luffy

Can't blame him thou, I think no story writers wants his or her mc to be sidelined by the other characters

Romance between characters is the antithesis of One Piece. The "romance" is the adventure. I'm not sure why people try to ship characters in this series, maybe it's just a normal fandom thing. I don't foresee OP having a similar ending to Naruto where we see all the characters as adults/married/with kids.

Hiyori just has a crush on Zoro. That's kind of ridiculous considering Hiyori isn't 16, she is 26. But it is how Oda wrote it.

I never smelt any attempt at romance here. The pairing is pretty much made up by us. Oda just showed little girl crush stuff with Hiyori and Zoro. With SaNa, there is actually subtle attempt at romance.

So, all good imo.
