An incredibly underrated aspect of Vegapunk's character is that he is capable of producing Seastone. The walls in Marineford that stopped Whitebeard I assumed where Seastone (what the fuck else could do it?), and the ships the Marines use to travel the Calm Belt have their bottoms coated in Seastone, thanks to Vegapunk.
Smoker, a Captain in the East Blue, had a Seastone-tipped Jitte, which, based on his current connection to Vegapunk, I assume was supplied by Vegapunk in the first place. Where else did a Captain from the East Blue get a fucking Seastone infused weapon? From this mutherfucker?
I don't think so.
It's likely that Stussy's Seastone lipstick is also a Vegapunk special.
ALL of the evidence points to the idea that Vegapunk is capable of making Seastone weaponry... which opens up two interesting possibilities for the plot.
1. Anti-Seraphim Seastone Robots
How dumb is Vegapunk? Dumb enough to give the WG who wants to kill him an elite force of clone beings who are unable to be defeated? I find this very unlikely, even for this guy.
So, what would be the Seraphim's greatest weakness? Well, so far, every one of them possesses a Devil Fruit ability (besides S-Hawk, though we have no reason to believe he lacks an Ability, since he has the green blood thingy on his arm).
No point in giving Mini-Mi-Hawk green blood if he doesn't have a Devil Fruit Power.
Well, this makes their weakness obvious: Seastone. Who is the foremost expert on Seastone in the series? Dr. Vegapunk. Looks like the WG shouldn't have trusted the world's smartest man to not have some contingencies.
Vegapunk will have some Seastone robots, or Seastone weapons, to take out the Seraphim. Knowing him, they'll probably be things like nets and bindings, to not damage the Seraphim. Since Vegapunk considers Stussy to be a human though she's a clone, I assume he feels the same about the Seraphim, and wanted to create restrain methods that didn't involve violence to them.
It would make sense for the WG to want Seastone weaponry capable of stopping the Seraphim in case they were given bad orders, given orders by an infiltrator into the WG/Marines, or went rogue.
Either way, once the Seraphim begin turning again thanks to Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, expect Vegapunk to bust out the Seastone.
2. Straw Hat Seastone Upgrades
Let's face it: there's two tiers here. Two very obvious tiers.
Tier 1: Luffy, Yamato, Zoro, Jinbei, Sanji
Tier 2: Franky, Robin, Brook, Nami, Usopp, Chopper
Chopper, Brook, and Robin will get Awakening advice from Vegapunk: Oda teased this with Robin's Demonio Fleur form, and Chopper expanding his Rumble Ball effects through Caesar's help. Vegapunk can push them further with his knowledge.
But, everyone without Devil Fruits should be getting some Seastone upgrades.
Franky making giant robots out of Seastone? YES.
Nami getting some kind of dagger or something to use in stealthy situations? YES.
Usopp getting Seastone rounds for his Kabuto? AW HELL YEAH (@Rottkins)
Sanji has Vegapunk and Franky build a Sora Warrior of the Sea Raid Suit out of Seastone for Sanji? YES (@Doggo)
And, Zoro with a Seastone Katana? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LET ME SEE IT ODA.
This is one of the last power-ups the crew needs: the ability to counter powerful Ability users. Usopp gaining Seastone will make him a real pain to deal with, and I can't wait to see what Franky comes up with.
