Characters tied or allied with the Straw Hats only die in flashbacks, Marineford was an exception and still only WB and Ace died, the rest of the WBP (including Curiel who had been burned by Akainu too and Jozu who had been frozen by Aokiji) and their pirates or RA allies all survived.
The words pretty exactly were "incapable of killing characters", not "incapable of killing characters outside flashbacks", though Ace, Whitebeard and Pedro so far are dead. If he killed them, he's not incapable of it.
This confirms that friends and allies of the Straw Hats only die during flashbacks, Marineford arc was an exception and even here the casualties were very limited, and possibly WCI arc if Pedro is really dead. But at this point I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's alive.
This is what i wanted to see this entire damn arc, Beast pirates interactions. I actually started to like Who's Who, Sasaki and King more just with this.

I won't have it any other way to be honest, one of the reasons why I loved Marineford was because I got to see so many characters after a long time. If they were killed off it wouldn't have been as fun to me.
