My point is that I thought WG would be different and not full of Oda defenders.

Although this community tends to have more critical voices regarding Oda's writing than reddit, that doesn't mean there won't be people here that defend his writing choices. I have my qualms with some of his writing decisions, but we have created a culture here of criticizing for the sake of criticizing, which I find very uncharitable at times. Regardless, he has the right to voice his positive outlook on the story.
