I didn't live in these times either¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never watched these shock videos like 2girls 1 cup or w/e it's called
Really? Never had the 'joy'(/sarcasm) of being tricked by someone to look up lemon party or clicked on a link in a forum to get redirected to meatspin and have the window scripted to dance around your screen so you couldn't close it with loud ass music for everyone in computer class to hear and know what you did?

Don't look those up btw.

Lmao what!?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nope, I never did!
I started really late with internet and all that stuff.
Got my first smartphone at 20 or so.

What's so interesting about shock sites tho?
After I read the description of what's happening in the video I usually have no interest at watching ot
Mostly the shock. Like I said, people would hide it in redirect links, trick you into searching something innocent, etc. Basically rickrolling and pranks but turned up to a higher degree and either gore or sexual in nature.

Basically you didn't want to be tricked when around others.

It's easy not to get tricked, just don't click on links without right clocking before, and don't look up stuff other people suggest you.

Only got me because of the loud shit.

Yeah but like a 13 year old me where I can barely say sexual terms now was even more sheltered then. So when friends I trusted add me to an AIM chat, and ask me if I've heard about lemon party, explain it's some new game and have me look it up to join them, only to laugh at the reaction.

You got a lot of cases of that kind of thing back then from people. Different internet atmosphere. Everyone was more loose, not so untrusting, much more wild wild west.

Yeah that's how rick rolling became so popular lol.
Fun times.

Oh, so that was the stuff adults/teachers always complained about and there were debates about teens sharing gore videos and footage of other kids in the school getting beaten up by bullies on their phones?

Now it all makes sense

I was never part of that scene so I didn't know it from the perspective of the 'perpetrators'
