Laws technique is simply more effective. Zoro has asked the same/similar of many characters (Sanji, Luffy, Orlumbus, Franky, Marco).

Might be my head canon but I've built up a picture of Law and Zoro being best friends of sorts. They've always seemed to have gotten on well with each other. Would not surprise me at all if by EoS they are ≈ Shanks & Mihawk regarding their "rivalry" as swordsmen, standing in the world, friendship despite different ships and the presumed minimal strength diff.
